Care Act Event

The Care Act was the largest piece of social care legislation in 60 years. It reformed the law relating to care and support for adults and carers, bringing in a new legal framework that encompassed the whole population.

To ensure that people were at the heart of the implementation of the care act in Richmond we ran an extensive engagement programme reaching around 300 people from across the community including the hard to reach:

  • 150+ people engaged through 8 visits to community venues
  • 50 people responded to our online survey
  • 90+ people attended our public event

The feedback from this engagement was used to shape the way that the Care Act was implemented in Richmond. Alongside this we gave the community’s views a national level Healthwatch Richmond by feeding this data into the Government’s consultation on the Care Act.
