Adult Mental Health Service Transformation Phase 3 - Post Transformation
The patient data collection and analysis were conducted across three distinct phases as commissioned by South West London & St George's NHS Mental Health Trust. This final comparative report serves as the presentation of our findings, and provides a comprehensive overview across the three stages of the project.
Data Collection
To identify any change in patient experience as a result of the Transformation Programme, we undertook a baseline review prior to the process being rolled out, a mid-point review and an end-point review of patient experiences. Emails, text messages, and phone calls where these were not available, were sent to a sample of recent Mental Health Trust patients inviting them to share their experiences through an online survey or phone interview.
- Baseline - Phase 1 pre-transformation (March 2023) 41 responses
- Mid-point review - Phase 2 during transformation (November-December 2023) 77 responses
- End point review - Phase 3 post-transformation (March-April 2025) 122 responses
Findings
There is a general trend of improvement throughout the findings which is of course an incredibly positive achievement and one that staff at the Trust should be congratulated on.
There have undoubtedly been significant improvements in continuity of care, staff turn-over, waiting times and patients feeling that they get the help that they need.
Nevertheless, several areas remain challenging and necessitate a revised approach, especially around patient's satisfaction with discharge or transfer, and with the feeling of having received the help needed.
While some areas still require improvement, this three-phase survey demonstrates the positive outcomes of the Transformation process initiated by the Trust. We recommend that the Trust review and consider the findings of this report and discuss them with us should they wish.
