South West London Healthwatch Accessible Information Standard Project

Healthwatch Sutton, together with the other Healthwatch organisations in South West London (Healthwatch Croydon, Merton, Kingston, Richmond, Wandsworth), are currently working with patients, carers, and GP practices on a project about the Accessible Information Standard.
The Standard applies to the whole of the NHS. Our project focuses on improving accessible communication in GP practices across South West London.” – “Our work builds upon the Healthwatch England “Your Care, Your Way” campaign which recommended that health and care providers improve implementation of the Standard.

Kingston Hospital contacted Healthwatch Richmond to conduct a survey that would help understand better the needs of patients in terms of blood tests appointments.
The aim was to collect patient’s views on their phlebotomy experience, in order to better understand patients’ needs and preferences.

Hampton Pharmacy Closures - Including a response from Boots

This report details the experiences of almost 700 residents in the wake of 2 pharmacy closures in Hampton North in late 2023. It describes the impact on residents, makes recommendations for improving provision both in Hampton and nationally, and has led to improvements for residents.

Healthwatch Richmond was asked to gather information about provision for young people with special educational needs and disabilities by Richmond Council. This was done in collaboration with the Integrated Care Board and Achieving for Children.

Hampton Pharmacy Closures

In November 2023, Boots Pharmacy in Tangley Park and Priory Road closed down, leaving only one remaining pharmacy in Hampton. We had a number of residents contact us about the major inconvenience this has caused.
